How to start clipping
Clipping means cutting the best moments of someone's streams or videos into short vertical clips and posting them for a clipping campaign, which pays you per 1,000 views. To start: pick a campaign that's paying, clip its creator's content, post daily, and submit every clip.
1. Pick a campaign that pays
A clipping campaign is run by a creator or brand that wants its content clipped. Its brief says what to clip, where to post it, the rate per 1,000 views, the view minimum a clip must reach, and often a cap per clip. Payouts come from a budget, and stop when it runs out.
Pick one with budget left, a minimum your clips can reach, and a rate worth your time. A high rate with a minimum you'll never hit earns less than a modest rate you clear every time.
2. Find the moments worth posting
The clips that do well start strong: a reaction, a punchline, a claim, something that makes people stop scrolling in the first second. In a three-hour stream there may be ten of them.
Finding them by hand means watching the whole stream. Renafy's AutoClip reads the transcript, listens for laughter, and on Twitch reads the chat's reactions, then hands you the moments with why each was picked.
3. Cut them into vertical clips
Most campaigns want vertical (9:16) clips for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, with captions, because most people watch with the sound off. Keep each clip to one moment, and end it where the thought ends.
4. Post, then submit every clip
Post on the platforms the brief allows, following its rules (hashtags, tags, what not to say). Then submit each post's link to the campaign: a clip that isn't submitted isn't paid.
5. Post every day
Clipping pays by the view, so volume and consistency matter more than one lucky clip. Most clippers earn modestly; the ones who earn more post more clips, on the campaigns that are paying right now.
Questions
Do I need permission to clip someone's content?
Clip only content a campaign asks you to clip, or that you have the rights to. The campaign's brief says what you can use.
How much can I make clipping?
It depends on the campaign's rate, your views and how many clips you post. The clipping earnings calculator works it out from your numbers.
Do I need editing skills?
Not much. A good clip is a strong moment, cut cleanly, with captions. Renafy finds the moments and cuts and captions the clips; you review and post them.
